I could not be prouder of the many accomplishments Kendal Charitable Funds achieved last year and for the last 36 years since its creation. The foundation’s important work, which has evolved over time to help address the needs of those supporting older adults, was founded to support the charitable goals of The Kendal Corporation, its system of Affiliates and the wider world of aging services.
Living our Mission in 2024
We have achieved many successes in 2024. One of the most successful initiatives was how Kendal Affiliates, together with The Kendal Corporation, gathered to foster community and raise awareness to end Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, showcasing the collective power of the Kendal System.
Kendal Charitable Funds provided a $5,000 donation to the local Walk to End Alzheimers’ initiative where Kendal Affiliates reside to encourage participation in those local walks. Some used those funds to offset the cost of obtaining sponsorships, and others were enabled to directly contribute to their Walk Team’s fundraising.
In addition, last year, the Academy of Hope Public Charter School successfully completed its two-year Promising Innovations Grant, where Kendal Charitable Funds provided $50,000. With this funding, the Academy supported the Healthcare Career Pathways program, which included Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training over a 24-month grant period. Through this program, Academy of Hope trained and certified fifty adult learners as CNAs, offering hands-on and in-depth training that included clinical practice and shadowing opportunities. This program prepares CNA graduates for careers in healthcare, particularly in senior living and aging services.
Gratitude For KCF Supporters
Our efforts – and the impact of our programs – have been made possible by the commitment and steadfast determination of the volunteers with Kendal Charitable Funds and our like-minded financial contributors and donors who are dedicated to seeing our work take shape.
We simply could not advance these efforts without the commitment from donors, participation from partners and engagement from Kendal Affiliates. I am also grateful for our dedicated board and staff members who help create a brighter future within Kendal and beyond.
Looking Ahead
We live in changing times. And the initiatives we undertake are becoming more critical than ever. At the same time, we must be creative and explore new ways to accomplish milestones that advance our purpose and calling.
Together, I am confident that Kendal Charitable Funds will continue to evolve – as it has for the last three decades – to advance Kendal’s mission. We will remain focused and nimble in our approach, and the Board and I are deeply appreciative of your support.
